Canada Fishing

The real Canada Fishing experience - off the dock at Simcoe Lake

A great way to spend a family vacation - the great Canada Fishing experience! I couldn't resist a picture of these families lined up along the dock at Jackson Point on Simcoe Lake enjoying a spot of fishing. As the afternoon wore on and the sun set with beautiful colours in the sky, these people fishing were silhouetted against Lake Simcoe and the sky. A great Canada fishing destination for your next season of travel plans.

Whale Tail

Photo of a Humpback Whale Tail with beautiful sunset taken on a whale watching tours

Whale Tail: Scientific Name:

Megaptera novaeangliae

Stock Photo of a Humpback Whale Tail with beautiful sunset colors. We needed this perfect day, being low to the water requires calm seas, especially when we get closer to the whale. Just after sunset I got this beautiful Whale Tail.

The water coming off the Whale Tail added the last missing bit. I photographed lots of Humpback Whale Tails, but this tail shot is my favourite. Taken of the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, a great location to do some Humpback Whale watching or a adventure travel vacation.

Trout River Pond

Beautiful scenery and sunsets await at Trout River Pond in Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, Canada.

The clouds seemed to hang in the sky and catch the beautiful light of the sunset over Trout River Pond in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada. The two sides of Trout River Pond are in complete contrast to each other. On one side you have the steep mostly barren slopes of the Tablelands and on the other there's the flat topped, forest covered hills. Trout River Pond is also the name of the nearby community and campground. Trout River Pond is a great place to experience wonderful sunsets, hiking, and the Canadian wilderness.

Sunset Bouches Du Rhone

The form of an umbrella tree is well defined in the sunset over the Bouches du Rhone region of the Provence, France.

At sunset you can watch another beautiful day come to an end in the Bouches du Rhone region near the village of Aigues Mortes in the Provence, France as the sun slowly disappears over the horizon and the sky turns an amazing mixture of yellow, gold and orange colors.

The sunset makes an umbrella tree take forefront in this picture as the shape of the tree really stands out as the sun settles in behind it. This area of the Bouches du Rhone, France is extremely flat so a sunset can be incredible to watch and they happen on a fairly regular basis.

Aigues Mortes, France is just a stepping stone away and after enjoying the sunset, check out the nightlife in this splendid walled town. Try out one of the many restaurants where prices...

Provence France Sunset Lac De Sainte Croix

The 17th century Chateau and Eglise paroissiale Saint-Jean are spectacular at sunset as they overlook Lac de Ste Croix in Provence, France.

At the western end of the village of Aiguines in Provence, France the Chateau glows in the gold lighting just after sunset. The chateau and the village both have astonishing views of the large lake known as Lac de Sainte Croix and the surrounding countryside.

The elegant 17th century chateau is privately owned and was sold, restored and bought again at four different times. The current owners have lived in the Chateau in Provence, France since 1989.

As you stand in the village of Aiguines and look out over the horizon at Lac de Sainte Croix and the Verdon Canyon you can actually see as far as the Plateau de Valensole. Sunset is one of the best times of the day to enjoy the scenery as the sun performs magic in the sky before it...

South Island Sunset New Zealand

A threatening sunset of fascinating colors near Hopewell in Kenepuru Sound on the South Island of New Zealand.

A sunset turns the clouds into an amazing display of colors over Double Bay near Hopewell in Kenepuru Sound on the South Island of New Zealand. Clouds usually look fairly light and fluffy but these clouds are loaded with dark, fiery orange colors threatening to dump buckets of rain down upon the countryside of the South Island of New Zealand.

These clouds look so heavy giving the impression that they could drop at any given time and crush the landscape below. It is amazing how a beautiful sunny day on the South Island of New Zealand can turn into an evening sunset of storm watching skies.

The Kenepuru Sound is one of the larger of the Marlborough Sounds in the South Island of New Zealand that runs approximately twenty-five...

Mt Taranaki Sunset NZ

A look across the North Taranaki Bight during sunset to the North Island's second highest peak - Mt Taranaki, New Zealand.

Often shrouded by cloud, it is a glorious sight to see the volcanic cone peak of Mt Taranaki (aka Mt Egmont) especially during sunset.

Mt Egmont dominates the Taranki region landscape from every conceivable angle since it is the second highest mountain on the North Island of NZ. The Egmont National Park encompasses the mountain and the immediate area surrounding it and has a total area of 33,534 hectares or 335 sq km.

There's a huge array of activites available on Mt Taranaki especially day hikes and multi day hikes. Short walks take visitors through goblin forests and moss draped mountain rainforests. Once the information centres on the mountain close and day walks come to an end, it is a stunning sight to see the near...

Taranaki Coastline New Zealand

Far from the beaten track was this pull out along the North Taranaki Bight Coastline on the North Island of New Zealand.

The sunsets are vivid along the West Coast of Taranaki especially on a fine, clear evening.

The waves work relentlessly on the fragile cliffs below as Mt Egmont looms in the background clear from her usual shroud of mist.

This is a magical location which we found by exploring to the end of the road - driving until we reached the start of the Whitecliffs Walkway by crossing private farm land.

Although we couldn't proceed any further we enjoyed the view of the sunset over the Taranaki coastline, sweeping past the White Cliffs (named after the White Cliffs of Dover in England) towards the town of New Plymouth.

Whale Watching Northern Vancouver Island

A golden sky silhouettes an orca during a whale watchinig tour from Northern Vancouver Island in BC, Canada.

Whale Watching Northern Vancouver Island: Scientific Name:

Orcinus orca

Backdropped by Malcolm Island's Donegal Head in the waters off Northern Vancouver, a killer whale ploughs across our path as the sun sets.

We had head set out from Port McNeill at around 4pm on a September afternoon and motored towards Telegraph Cove and beyond. It was near Telegraph Cove that we found a small pod of Killer Whales travelling north in Johnsone Strait, so we enjoyed a little bit of whale watching from our small boat, as they skirted the shores of Northern Vancouver Island.

Eventually they turned into Weynton Passage as the sun was setting and continued cruising the waters of Blackfish Sound and into Queen Charlotte Strait. Unfortunately that is where we had to end our whale watching and return to Port...

Pictures Of Volcanoes New Zealand

Pictures of the snow covered volcanoes of Mount Egmont-Taranki in New Zealand are spectacular at sunset.

Picture of Pictures Of Volcanoes New Zealand
Volcanoes create some of the most magnificent and intriguing pictures that any photographer can imagine especially when the sky turns a golden yellow color at sunset. New Zealand has a high density of active
volcanoes and a very high frequency of volcanic eruptions.

Volcanoes have been around New Zealand throughout much of the geological history and have contributed strongly to the evolution of the surrounding landscape. Three of the regularly active volcanoes of New

Zealand are the White Island, Ruapeh and Ngaruhoe which are all part of the Taupo Volcanic Zone. This particular picture is of Mount Egmont-Taranki which began forming some 70,000 years ago.

Besides all the volcanoes and their eruptions, New Zealand is home to...

Quirpon Island Lighthouse

The Quirpon Island Lighthouse is located on Quirpon Island on the northeastern tip and looks over the Strait of Belle Isle.

Quirpon Island Lighthouse in Winter. The Quirpon Island Lighthouse was established in the 1860s, and manned until 1996.

Overlooking the Labrador Sea and Iceberg Alley, the tower has been depended on for over a century, providing safe bearings by sailing vessels and steamships bound for continental ports via the Strait of Belle Isle.

Today the 1922 lightkeepers home is better known as the Quirpon Island Inn which attracts many visitors to the island. Castlepoint Lighthouse Sunset New Zealand

Standing from Castlepoint Lighthouse in New Zealand, the brilliant hues created by the sunset is a vision of beauty.

The sunset at Castlepoint in Wairarapa on the North Island of New Zealand is one of the prettiest sights overlooking the bay and lagoon that glisten from the remaining rays of the sun. The horizon is magnificent colors of pink, yellow and orange with a few wisps of clouds hovering over the hillside.

The walk along the boardwalk to Castlepoint Lighthouse is the perfect location to watch a sunset where the rock formations along the coastline add to the beauty of the landscape. Castlepoint on the North Island of New Zealand is the only town that has enough people to call it a town between Cape Palliser and Cape Kidnappers. Niagra Falls History

The history of Niagra Falls began with a raging battle between Canadians and American troops.

Once the scene of a bloody battle between the British Canadian forces and invading American army, Chippawa is part of the Niagara Heritage Trail and a major element of Niagra Falls history. The battle of Chippawa was the start of the Niagara campaign and began in the early hours of July 5, 1814 and by the end had claimed approximately 200 lives from both sides. Today the peaceful site on the banks of the Niagara River is meticulously maintained by the Niagara Parks Commission.

American Falls

The American Falls can be seen from the Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada.

Looking across to the American Falls from a walkway in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The American Falls stand at a height of 56 metres. The basin below the falls is not that deep, made up of eroded bedrock which has fallen from the escarpment itself, dislodged from the continual flowing water. It is thought that over time the falls will become descending rapids due to the build up of bedrock at the base of the American Falls.
